Evidence for a new energy scale in the Raman spectra of high-Tc cuprates

چکیده
We report low energy electronic Raman scattering from Ni-substituted Y Ba2Cu3O6.95 single crystals with Tc ranging from 92.5 K to 78 K. The fully symmetrical A1g channel and the B1g channel which is sensitive to the dx2−y2 gap maximum have been explored. The energy of the B1g pair-breaking peak remains constant under Ni doping while the energy of the A1g peak scales with Tc (EA1g/Tc = 5). Our data show that the A1g peak tracks the magnetic resonance peak observed in inelastic neutron scattering yielding a key explanation to the long-standing problem of the origin the A1g peak.

We review theoretical investigations of high-temperature superconductors which have been performed by density functional theory. The main subject of our study is the Hg-based family of the superconducting cuprates, which demonstrates unusual and still puzzling properties. We show that the first-principles approach is able to describe the effects of chemical doping and pressure on the structur...

Background: Carious lesions are formed by a complex process of chemical interaction between dental enamel and its environment. They can cause cavities and pain, and are expensive to fix. It is hard to characterize in vivo as a result of environment factors and remineralization by ions in the oral cavity. Objectives: The development of a technique that gives early diagnosis which is non-invasi...
متن کاملPhenomenology of the normal state in-plane transport properties of high-Tc cuprates
In this article, I review progress towards an understanding of the normal state (in-plane) transport properties of high-Tc cuprates in the light of recent developments in both spectroscopic and transport measurement techniques. Against a backdrop of mounting evidence for anisotropic single-particle lifetimes in cuprate superconductors, new results have emerged that advocate similar momentum dep...

Superconductivity induced structures in the electronic Raman spectra of high-Tc superconductors are computed using the results of ab initio LDA-LMTO three-dimensional band structure calculations via numerical integrations of the mass fluctuations, either in the whole 3D Brillouin zone or limiting the integrations to the Fermi surface. The results of both calculations are rather similar, the Bri...

Asymmetric features of various physical quantities in the normal and superconducting states between hole- and electron-doped cuprate high-temperature superconductors have been an issue of debate for a long time. Their exploration is very important for the understanding not only of the mechanism of high-Tc superconductivity but also of the nature of doped-Mott insulators. Presented in this rev...
